The ones worth the click.
Six guides that cross borders, including the ones that belong to no single country.
America, answered
Before you book.
The cross-border questions. Anything country-specific lives on the country guide.
Is it safe?Region by region, not country by country. Medellín’s Poblado and Laureles are fine; so is most of Mexico City. The honest answers are in each country guide.
Cash or card?Colombia and Mexico take cards in the cities. Cuba runs on cash you bring with you — euros, and more than you think.
How much Spanish do I need?Enough to order, greet and ask the price. Outside tourist streets, English runs out fast, and nobody minds you trying.
Which month?December to April across the Caribbean and Colombia’s coast. Mexico City is good almost all year; its rain comes in the afternoon and leaves.
Can I do Cuba and Mexico in one trip?Yes, and the Havana to Cancún or Mexico City hop is short. Build in a buffer day: Cuban flights move.
Are the all-inclusives worth it?For a week of nothing, yes. For a week of eating, no — you will spend it behind a wristband eating the same buffet.
